New Year's Getaway - Charleston:The Food

Charleston's reputation as a food lover's paradise is undeniable.  The number of utterly superb bars and restaurants within walking distance of each other is amazing.   The only restaurant we drove to during our week long stay was "The Grocery", and that was due to the threat of rain.

Here are some of the culinary highlights of our stay.

Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree Updates...The Trend Lives On!

Hey y'all, awhile ago I did a post about purchasing a Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree and I thought I would give an update on the growth process and some background notes and thoughts of this wonderful and beautiful green indoor plant.

I remember reading an article a few months ago how this trend was dying and going to be replaced with another plant; however, I couldn't disagree more and I actually see this trend continuing to grow and be used in interior design. Some wonderful examples are:

Interior designer, Emily Henderson, styled Nicolette Mason's new home, and I love how the Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree adds to brightening up this living room space. (See full article here)

Kitchen Updates...Phase 1!!!!

Hey y'all I talked a little bit about some of my weekend projects on Friday and I am here to share with y'all the main project, which is our kitchen update. It is not hundred percent where I want it (see inspiration photo here), but it is getting closer; which I am absolutely thrilled about, so I will affectionately call this Phase 1 of our kitchen remodel.

New Year's Getaway - Charleston:Boone's Hall Plantation

I have always dreamed of houses since I was a little girl. I would take magazine clippings and keep them in a box, the days before there was pinterest, and daydream of what my house would look like one day. Well a southern plantation was the ultimate house design I wanted to have. Oh and you can't have the southern plantation without the driveway lined with aged oak trees!

Well I got to live my childhood dream, even if it were for a few hours, and tour this beautiful plantation during our trip in Charleston at Boone's Hall Plantation. You may recognize this plantation because it has been in a few movies, like the Notebook. It is currently owned by a brother and sister and is still a working plantation, which I thought was pretty cool. Well like always enough of this chit chat and let me show y'all some pictures of this breath taking place.

Hallway Reveal- The Good Stuff!!

Hey ya’ll!!  While I didn’t take any before pictures of our dreary ol’ hallway, I do have these somewhat obstructed views from the original listing of the home.  As you can see, the hallway was fairly bland.  There was no chair railing and it was painted the same color as the current color of the rest of the house.

This particular hallway is located in was we affectionately call the “old part” of the house.  At one point, sometime in the 1950’s to be more precise, our home consisted of two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen and a living room.  Well, all this was connected by the little hallway we are looking at today!

Here’s how it looks now…
